Knowledge cut-off

The date up to which a model’s training text was collected; it knows nothing later unless told.

In one study, 55% of the references GPT-3.5 gave in short literature reviews were made up, and 18% of GPT-4’s. - Mind the date: a model learns from text collected up to a point, its knowledge cut-off, and does not update itself afterwards. - Give it the facts: paste the document, or use a tool that searches real sources.
